For dinner? They probably won't kick you out, but you'll look rather out of place. As others have said, khaki shorts or Nantucket Reds with a belt and a polo would be ok, but most of the other guests who identify as men will likely be wearing slacks and dress shirts, many in jackets as well.
Definitely not if dining inside. There are plenty of more casual places in the area. On a hot summer evening during a Waterfire, sure nice shorts and a collared shirt at the outside tables would work just fine.

I'd not recommend it. You don,'t need to dress too fancy, either. I'd say go for "formal casual."

Yes. But for lunch at the bar. Dinning room or dinner. I'd wear a collared shirt. Outside for waterfire t shirt or pili and chinos
Shorts and a collared shirt with decent shoes would be OK to sit outside. It's a very nice restaurant.
