My son is also on the spectrum and would say it is ok for special needs children, most of it is paved with some graveled areas but nothing to serious or unmanageable.

Yes it is paved mostly. The tigers past the bears is not paved and has some roots to walk over. There is a gravely path past a few of the animals but there is also a paved path. If you get in a tour it's more interesting as someone talks about the animals. They are rescued lions, tigers, bears, monkeys lemurs, snakes and many more.he will love it.
