I just found a very sick cat in our backyard. It looks friendly but very weak. How can I help it to get to the shelter?

Put some food out. Then approach it slowly and get it to trust you. Talk softly as you approach. Once it let's you pet it, you can slowly move to picking it up and putting it in a carrier or box to bring it to the shelter.

I already brought it in! I fed it and kept it warm. It was shivering and too weak to walk property. It needs to be treated. I called the shelter a few times today, but it's only the automated message system. I live in Queens and I need to know for sure whether they would take it before I travel that far. Could someone tell me if there's any procedure to put it in the shelter. Thanks!

If you are in Town of Hempstead take to them. Last Hope normally does not take from individuals. Call Animal Control if you can not get the cat.
