If containers are purchased in Oregon, and marked as returnable in the state of Oregon, why does this place refuse to accept most of the Pepsi cans ? I thought I get my "deposit" back, not -donate- to the state. NOT Right!!!

I went on vacation to Eugene Oregon and they have a Costco. I bought beer and soda there and had full cans left so I brought them home. They wouldnt take my cans even though they were purchased in Oregon. They said any and all Kirkland brand cans are not acceptable there because of the nearest Costco being in Idaho.

I lived in Oregon for years and years and experienced this many times. There is serious lack of cooperation going on with retailers Many are not returning the deposits they charge, many make excuses why they can't or won't return your deposit. Some stores impose nonsense limits on what you can return without a legal basis to do so. Many let the machines gum up and breakdown, then they just slap a sign on them. "Sorry, out of Order" instead of servicing the machine as necessary. These are not complicated machines, they just need to be kept clean. If you charge a deposit, you are required by Oregon State Law to return that deposit, no excuses. Put some gloves on and count them by hand!!!
