We have been going to Watkins Glen for years and it's always been my favorite place to visit but we went last weekend and it was just unbelievable !!! Dogs on all the trails, rude people blocking the trails for 15/20 pictures. I understand everyone wants a picture and i truly understand the beauty of everything in Watkins Glen but plz be curtious and remember there are other people waiting to walk through and take pictures. We try to be polite and not walk into your picture so plz be polite to us and not exchange 10 people to get 15 pictures. There were 15 people stuck in the tunnel behind the big falls because some group had to have 20 pictures and some kid had to stand in the middle of the bath and text all 20 pictures i swear. Common curtousy people.
Dogs are not permitted on the Gorge Trail. However, they can be on a leash on the upper rim trails and the picnic area at the top of the gorge. ... There are 3 main trails at Watkins Glen, the Indian Trail, the South Rim Trail, and the Gorge Trail. Dogs are allowed on the Indian and South Rim Trails
Yes
When I went about 6 years ago, the previous year, 2 dogs fell to their death on the gorge trail. I was told some sections are worn and don't have a wall protecting dogs/people from slipping and falling into the gorge. They stopped allowing dogs on the gorge trail after the incident. Dogs are allowed everywhere else in the park, just not the gorge trail. I don't think you can see the gorge on the other trails.
