I am a school counselor and one of my students that is 18 wants to get a job. His mother says he can't get a job because it will reduce her disability check. IS THIS TRUE? He needs money and wants to work.

I don't think so, not if it's Social Security check but if she is on food stamps that will decrease or stop depending on how much he makes. If her son lives with her. If she is on SSI she or anyone living in the home they have a certain amount that they can make without it interfering in her disability.
