I'm being told I need to see the doctor that the workers' comp insurance has chosen, and not my own doctor. Can they do that?

Unfortunately, yes. In a Florida workers’ compensation case, the insurance company picks all of your treating doctors with a very rare exception. That exception is if they fail to provide you with notification of who your new doctor will be within 5 days of a written request for a one-time change in treating physician. If this rare exception applies, you will be able to chose the doctor who will take over your care. Feel free to contact our office for a free initial consultation if you have further questions. Take care!

Yes, in the majority of cases the workers' compensation insurance company gets to select all of the authorized treating physicians who will treat you over the course of your case. However, there are some circumstances where you can choose which doctor you want to see. We'd be happy to discuss this with you further during a consultation.
