Reverend Francis Freeman, he and his wife were close family friends. This was before they changed pastors like diapers and he was the pastor from the early 1940's (he baptized me) until the early 1960's (he helped me get into Wyoming Seminary), at least 20 years. I still have the chess set he gave me when he taught me to play chess. I remember helping my father helping him at his cottage in PA. Sarah Jane Church used to be Methodist-Episcopal and I think he originally may have been an Anglican Minister from England. He was not a tall man (5'-8"?) and a little stout, and always wore the traditional white collar and black suit of the clergy. That was back when Sarah Jane had three choirs, professional organist, two services to hundreds of parishioners and also had an aura of gentility about them. I was an usher and can remember on Christmas and Easter having a full sanctuary, full parlor (with adjacent Sunday School rooms full) and a full balcony and opened classroom behind full.
Thank you so much! I still have dreams of Junior hurch and my Grandmother and I walking across the viaduct to church.
