There are bus services I believe, but probably the easiest way is to take the train up the Hudson River line. You can get off at Beacon station and then either take a cab, Uber, or Lyft to the Art Center.
There is a bus from Port Authority that is operated by Coach USA that does a day trip up to Storm King. The downside of taking the bus is that you have to stay there till the bus leaves, but the price includes admission!
Read the Stirm King website fir all info
Car is the best option for a large group. It also gives you the flexibility to explore other places on the way such as one of the Pallisades park stops, which offer nice view above Hudson.
Renting a car is the most effective way. As a new yorker, I'm used to walking but leveraging public transportation wouldn't be effective for you or your guests.
We have several public transportation options available from NYC. This information is available on Storm King's website: https://stormking.org/visit/. I've also outlined below – By Train – From Grand Central Terminal visitors can buy a train ticket to the Beacon Station that includes discounted Storm King Admission: http://web.mta.info/mnr/html/getaways/outbound_stormking_artcenter.htm Storm King offers shuttle service round-trip from the Beacon Train Station on Saturdays, Sundays, & holiday Mondays. A separate ticket is required for the shuttle service: https://bit.ly/2qBbldD From Penn Station – New Jersey Transit/Metro-North also provides service from Penn Station to the Salisbury Mills train station, three miles from Storm King by taxi. For more information: www.njtransit.com. By Bus – Coach USA (Short Line Bus) offers two different day packages to Storm King with round-trip transportation and discounted admission to the Art Center.
