I'm an experienced kayaker, and I would like to rent at least one kayak in order to take someone with me who is new to the sport. My question is twofold: Is this a body of water that is appropriate for a beginner? And may I use my own kayak and gear?

The creek to the right when u put in is perfect for beginners....Saratoga Lake is to the left and if you get out into the lake it can get choppy at times and has more boat traffic.

You can also launch from there... They just charge $5

The answer to both questions in s yes. I just rented from there as a 1st timer and went out with a friend who had their own kayak. They just have to launch from a different place h you meet up out on the water. The creek is calm and wide, with little boat traffic.
