Yes admission varies year to year it seems and definately have to buy ahead of time to pick your time slot. Best to watch facebook page for updates on opening dates and admission prices and can link to buy tickets/time slot from there. It is a lot of fun and great to see esp after dark!
I believe it varys every year and depending on how many tickets are sold. I would suggest ordering early, the tickets are basically for parking/your arrival time. I tried to swing by once with my fiancee, but was turned away because we didn't buy ahead of time.
