I don't think so. When we adopted our cat in June, my husband was 77 and they didn't seem to think it was a problem.

A puppy is an extreme amount of work.. so many senior dogs with plenty of energy and usually get overlooked time after time.. my father in law is 85.. adopted from Columbia however being a 5 yr potty with a ton of energy and very strong he sadly returned him(he actually fell and broke a rib).. he did make a great monitory contribution to help get him leash trained/commands. Tommy (dog) now has a forever home and my fil keeps in touch to see how he's doing. That doesn't happen often that a person will contribute to help the let get trained.. age appropriate dog/human should always be considered..pitty :)
