The park is open 7 days a week, the museum is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. But it's free of charge to explore the grounds and a small charge/ donation of $2.00 per person for the museum.

it was the first black settlement in the US. since florida was owned by the Spanish, free and or runaway slaves took refuge in Spanish florida. The Spanish gave them a piece of land just north of st. augustine and asked that they convert to catholicism and help protect the Castillo de san marco. In exchange the Spanish protected them from slavers from the southern states. that is it in a nutshell

Its a historic site that talks about free black (slaves). They are closed Tuesday through Thursday, so I miss the history lesson and live expedition l.
