The manatees are best and mostly visible between November and March each year, so going with a tour company to show you where the year round manatee mammas and their babies up to 3-5 years roam in the various rivers, springs, and canals in the area is the best way to begin your introduction. In the winter months, with seven rivers and a 10-12 mile salt water marsh fish and bird sanctuary between the rivers landslide and the Gulf of Mexico saltwater linked to the Atlantic Ocean, the Manatees thrive in the 72° waters of the various springs all over Citrus and Hernando counties, and on down the West and East coast of Florida in the intercoastal waterways, rivers, lagoons, and springs. The Three Sisters Springs is located about 2 miles south of the Plantation hotel grounds, and is accessible to limited handicapped parking, walk-up,or trolly drop
