Are there places to sit throughout the museum to take a break . People that walk with a cane? Or just have trouble walking or standing in a place a long period ?

Yes here and there, there's an elevator because it is on multiple floors.you should be fine if you have a walker with a seat on it then you would have your own seat. it's not a really big place so depending on your limitations and the sitting here and there you should be just fine.I recommend this time of year after the world series of little league it was very quiet this past weekend and hear forward into fall is a great time to go no crowds. If you're active duty retired military here's a treat free entry! The downside of going in fall is some of the shops will be closed on the main. So you have to weigh out what's important to you. But if you're a baseball fan it's a must see!
