Hi Lely. We are always open to taking homeless pets in Martin County, however if these free-roaming cats are thriving in their current environment, we don't necessarily want to disrupt that either. We also provide TNVR (trap-neuter-vaccinate-release) to Martin and St. Lucie Counties, which is a program similar to the "catch-and-release" program another Google user mentioned in her reply. You can learn more about TNVR on our website at https://hstc1.org/Community-TNVR and also use the contact information on that page if you're interested in pursuing that route. You can also call our shelter directly at (772) 223-8822.
The WPB animal shelter recommends checking in on three kittens every few hours the first day you notice them. If they aren't constantly crying out after 6-12 hours their Momma is returning to feed them. WPB shelter said their best chance of survival is with their Mother for the first 4 weeks. After that you can catch them and bring them in for the free "catch and release" program where they're given shots and spayed/neutered. Once that is done they'll clip one of their ears (to indicate they were part of the program and not recaptured later) and then they'll give you a call to pick them up and release them near where you found them. The "catch and release" program says cats in the area will help prevent other cats (non vaccinated, not fixed) from moving into their territory. Maybe the Treasure Coast Humane Society offers a similar program?
