I bought two new continental tires Last week from you and used them once. I checked the tire pressure this morning and both tires were 60-70lbs. What is the correct road bike tire pressure and is it normal to lose this much pressure after one ride?

If the tires were 700 x 23/25 size the pressure rating should be 110-120 psi. Larger volume tires have less pressure. The tube actually holds the pressure and not the tire. If the loss was from 110 down to 60 in one day the tube is the reason. All tubes loose air, and the higher pressure they are the faster they loose pressure. The psi rating is on the side of all tires. How about pumping the tires up to the proper rating. If they are down that much again, I will gladly install new tubes. The amount of miles has nothing to do with pressure drop, only time is related to pressure loss. If they are 110 psi rating, reinflating once a week is normal. I hope this works, Jim MIncher

It's always good to check the pressure before every ride. It's completely normal for a tube to lose 10 to 15 percent of its optional pressure after a few days, even without riding at all. I use 700x28s on my road bike, and like to ride between 90 and 110 psi. Thinner tires need more pressure, wider need less. It also comes down to rider weight, riding surface, and personal preference.
