I lived up the road from BP for 20 years and have been many times. The time it takes will depend on what you do there. There is A VERY tiny museum and gift shop. The average person could cruise through in 5 minutes, but if you're the type to read every label and story posted, it might take a half hour or more. Then, there's the property. This is an old family farm, the place the agreement in the south to end the civil war was signed. It's a tiny farm house, a small outbuilding, and a gazebo that looks comparatively modern (probably added for events at the historical site). Other than a plaque here or there that's really all there is as far as historical sites. Again, 5-30 minutes depending on your pace. BUT, if you view this as a park like setting, as I long have, it's a lovely oasis in the middle of the city, with a large open lawn and bordering on woods with lovely trails for short nature walks. Bring a picnic and enjoy it on the lawn, in the woods, or at their picnic tables!
We watched the movie and did a self guided tour and museum 1.5 hrs. Well worth a visit!
I would say no more than two and a half hours for Bennett Place, including doing a guided tour. You could easily do the museum and grounds in a little over an hour. It is a very small site.
