I agree with everyone else go to AutoZone they'll plug in underneath your steering wheel by your dashboard they'll tell you the code and what it means and then you can take it from there
Check Engine Light is automatic failure, it notifies the system there is a problem. As far as stores clearing the codes, they are not legally allowed to clear or reset codes, only diagnose codes & pull up from store computers what MAY be problem & how to repair. If they did reset code for example, you drive off lot & say a code pertains to fuel system, something happens to your car & get injured, fuel related & they just reset what was possibly warning! Also as far as the old "unhook the battery" trick, the diagnosis computers can pull a code that shows the battery was disconnected & fail or tell you leave & return in so many hours (if they havent removed sticker). My thing is these buses, giant trucks, etc that pour giant plumes of black smoke into the air & dont have to get inspected, just checking insurance & registration. So difficult for a small toyota tercel example, but a giant 18 wheeler pulls in dated 1984 & is exempt...
No they will fail it
I believe that MVC basically just checks for emissions. If your check engine light is due to that, it would be best to go to AutoZone and have a free diagnosis done.
The AutoZone thing is the good way to go they will diagnose it real quick and you'll know what the problem is
I don't think so goto AutoZone and they will let you know what's wrong or they will tell you the code and you can Google it ... it's free they don't charge your car will not pass with light on
No. Go to advanced auto parts and have them clear the codes. It's free.
