A dryer is kinda like the part of a washing machine, the tub where you put your clothes. Just like a washer spins your clothes, our dryers spin washed produce to get excess water off so the produce can continue being processed. The dryer operator is the person that controls the dryer. Operating a dryer is considered heavy lifting too because the operator has to raise the whole large tub, or dryer, which, after spinning, is full of "dried" produce, connect the dryer to an overhead cable, and haul the whole thing over to the next part of the line, and dump the dried produce out for more processing. So, after the dryer operator passes a probation or trial period of employment to show they can handle the heavy lifting the job involves, their hourly wage is increased.
