A friendly feral cat in our neighborhood has just had kittens and we'd like to bring her and her kittens to your facilities. Will you take them? We have our own cats. This mother cat neighbors say her owners moved away and left her. So sad.

Just to express my personal experience with this establishment . I would say you might have a 1 in 199 chance of that happening. They will tell you they help but more than likely not. It's sad because they say it's there funding. They may take the kittens depending on if they have an upcoming event. They some times have events they attend where kittens and small dog's or puppies are more desirable. Truth. Best call them or visit there main website as this is going to be based on other's opinions or experiences.. have a blessed day

Please call the shelter and ask for their help with the kittens and thank you for caring enough to want to help them. Just so you know, questions posted here get answered by other people who can only offer so much.

It’s sad isn’t it? Cats’and dogs’ that have been there longer should get just as good of a home if not better. Everyone wants a puppy or a kitten and I’ve noticed they put them right in front. It saddens me because people should just know better. I’d choose the middle aged mother over the kittens but then again I have a conscience. It’s also sad because (and you know who you are if you’re reading this) adopt or rescue an animal only to take it back to be surrendered because you just didn’t feel like taking care of them anymore. When you choose a pet. You’re choosing a “RESPONSIBILITY.” It’s not a “CHOICE.” Unless it’s an emergency then you raise that kitten or puppy, cat or dog. Lord have mercy on you if you just drop them off somewhere. I know it happens. I’ve seen it but what people don’t know is that cats especially who are domesticated & then dropped off somewhere a year later will not make it. They starve, lose muscle, hide when weak & then killed by a predator. It’s truth.

It is so nice of you to care. The reality is that funds and space are limited. They have the will and desire to help take the cats and dogs that need care...however... With that said...it is difficult. If Columbia county cannot help. Please call Alachua county. They have merged recently and may have a larger network of people who can help. Good luck. Thanks for caring. 🇺🇸😁
