I watched my son and husband drive them and they seem to be going fairly fast and they have new go carts now too so they are nice.

Im not sure the mph, but they were ok. Not too fast but not too slow either. I have a 12 yr old n he was whipping it around pretty good.
They're not grand prix go cart speed but they do move quite fast. The safety equipment: tires, seat belts and guard rails are needed because they travel fast enough to require them. Any around 5 to 20 mph I'd guess.
