The English translation for Mission San Juan Capistrano was: 'The Mission of Saint John Capistrano of Sajavit.' He was a Roman Catholic Franciscan priest from the city of Capistrano, Italy. He was a theologian and an Inquisitor. At age 70, he led a crusade against the Ottoman Empire and was nicknamed the 'Soldier Saint.' He died in 1456 during this crusade. Saint John is the patron saint of military chaplains.
Have no idea. The historical figure of the Catholic priest who has established the mission is Padre Junipero Serra (canonized in 2015). But it was already called that when he started.
