Grass on the fairways in Florida is usually Bermuda on most courses. Bermuda is a hot weather grass. In the winter months, courses will over-seed with rye if they have the budget for it. I don't believe Spessard does do that so their fairways will thin out in the winter as Bermuda doesn't handle cool weather well. The greens are also Bermuda but will be a hybrid strain quite different from the fairways. I agree with John regarding the overall course condition.
The putting green is the best in this area
Green, ha! Seriously though I'm not sure what kind it is but it's in great condition. There is new rye grass on the tee boxes. The whole course is in the best condition its been for several years.
