Do they rent tools besides the big ones? I need to dig a couple holes and a root digger would make it so much faster and easier but I don't want to buy one only just to use it a few times and that's it.

They should, but that is a small tool. I would call and ask them. Try orchard supply on fresno and gettysburg. Or even buy tool and return it.
