Done with a laser
My procedure was indeed a laser, but they had to cut a thin flap off of my eye in order for the laser to go through my eye. I believe that you will find that this is how LASIK is done even with a laser.
I actually cant remember what they told me the process for creating the flap on the surface of the eye. Your vision goes completely black for the first couple seconds while they create it. It was all completed by the laser machine though.
