No, you don't. My son lives 5 min away from the Center. But he doesn't get to ride the bus there. If you live on campus, you are able to have access to many things. You can ride a bus and go to different stores to go shopping, or other fun spots. You will have access to a medical professional. There's tutoring available as well. Lots of benefits either way. You do not have to live here. You can either be non residential and drive here everyday, I believe there are buses as well, or you can be residential and live on campus. If you are residential they provide everything you possibly need... food, soap, laundry detergent, washers, dryers, the rec does little fun trips on the weekend. However, there is a lot of drama here too, unfortunately.
