With a credit card I'm not sure they need a security deposit - they just authorize the amount of the projected rental cost based on the return date and quoted rate. However, a debit card requires a deposit of $300 and that is not released until a few days after the return. At least that's been my understanding based on my personal experience and yes, they do run your credit score which is a factor in the deposit amount.
They always hold your deposit, debit or credit cerd, also they run your credit score, they'll release your money as soon as you return the rental car.
They wouldnt take debit card for deposit. Credit card accepted and deposit applied to full\final charges charged upon return.
