I have been there several times. I have always found the food and service to be fantastic. It's a true taste of Florida.
Food is great and service is the best.
That's why I only eat the fish fresh fish or straight crab snow crab cakes nothing like that always eat fresh the food is always fresh there we've been going there for 30 years and never had a bad bad meal bad service but never bad meal

Mutiple visits have always been delightful. I do agree, however, that the crab cakes aren't their specialty.

The crab legs and hush puppies are my favorites. The soup can be hit or miss but more often a hit. I always enjoy a trip to Riggins
I'm sorry you had such a bad experience I've never had the crab cakes but I can vouch for mostly everything else usually delicious
