I know if they cancel a performance they will credit your ticket amount to use for another purchase. It does not hurt to ask what could be done if you could not use your tickets due to illness.
Well I believe they won't refund your money because someone got sick. But look at it a a donation for this non- profit organization. Or give the tickets to family or friends.
