Nikola Tesla is also credited for creating the induction motor and currently is the most commonly used motor today for both doing work and generating alternating current, AC electricity. It was also the inspiration for the drive train of Tesla Motors vehicles hence the name.

Nicola Tesla was an inventor most known for his electrical inventions. He invented early x-ray imaging and also designed what we know today as the fluorescent light bulb. Tesla was also the first person to develop alternating current power which is standardized in most homes all over the world. He was Thomas Edison's biggest competor. Credit is falsely given to Edison for creating the first light bulb (incandescent) when actually Tesla had designed his flourescent light bulb before Edison had designed his incandescent light bulb. The United States had subsidized Edison's technology so when electricity was first being introduced into houses, they were receiving direct current power instead of the alternating current power we use today.
