I need a camera that will produce photos with a minimum of 300 DPI, in a JPEG format. What kind of camera should I rent.

It depends what size you want to print. If you ask them at the store, they will help you. They are honest and helpful.

If "dpi" means "dots per inch" to you, what you want is not possible. A dot is a unit of ink or other imprint on a piece of paper. A digital camera records in units of pixels.

Any DSLR will shoot at 300. If not, csn make adjustments in editing software

Pretty much anything above 16MP will get you what you need...I suggest looking at something in the Sony lineup....A6500, A7II, A7III.
