There are a few pear varieties that have been hybridized by UF to do well in this climate but it's not something we've seen in a long time. We haven't been able to get pear trees that do well in our climate for quite some time.
Yes in fact there are several different varieties that do well here. The folks at Rockledge gardens will know which produce the best.
