Service animals only by MA law. Any establishment with food items for sale cannot and should not permit animals, other than trained and certified service animals. Comfort animals do not qualify as an exception to the law and should not be permitted, so regular 'pets' certainly should not be permitted.
I know for sure that all service animals are welcomed officially, and I have seen well-behaving/trained dogs with safe leashing many times with no hassels from staff.
Not supposed to let animals in. But people do. They dont care. So feel free. To do so.
