If I bought something with a debit card and then needed to return it, can I get cash back? Or does it have to go back on the card?

I think they will use the original payment method or store credit, if you buy with cash they will give you cash ,if you buy with debit it will goes back to your debit in case of returning items!

Walmart change there policy. Debit cards. They dont give cash. It goes back on card

With a debit your refund will be a cash back. If a credit they will put it back on your card.

Most likely it will go back on your card and probably not in a timely fashion either

I believe if it is under a certain. Amount they will give you back cash sometimes. Example under 20$
