You have to remember that this game is about shooting small plastic balls at high velocity at people. And depending on where you get hit and how, this game can do some damage. If you are an aggressive player, there is a really good chance that you will come out of the day with small cuts and welts. As long as your child understands this and is willing to play dispite of it, they should be good.
Jc put it the best. Unless your kid is used to getting hit by BBs and is willing to talk to and listen to the wide variety of people that will play airsoft alongside your kid, might want to wait. maybe train your kid a bit and get them ready for whats to come, maybe bri g them and let them spectate and see if they are willing to play. The airsoft ministry staff might be able to guide the kid along in case you need help teaching, they have classes every now and then for noobs. Check their face book events.
Depending on your definition of "child." I'd say around 12ish is the youngest I'd recommend. Any younger than that and usually there's kinda too much going on and they typically want to leave after the first time they get hit.
