If it's not terribly expensive maybe you should buy it. If it proves to be yours, via serial number or something, you can turn it over for evidence. Have your case number handy and REMEMBER, cops don't go out looking for stolen stuff. It's almost a nuisance to them. The more leg work you do yourself, the better! Good luck. Call the guy working the case, like Andy said, and leave several messages as they don't typically consider recovering stolen goods a high priority, unfortunately.
You should contact the detective in charge of your case. Needs to be when hes office unless some agencies have an email or another offocer can relay info to him/her
