I would like to know how to keep what I think might be rabbits from eating the tops off our Amaryllis plants. We have had these plants for almost twenty years. and never had any animal damage until now

what and how do I separate my great grandmothers large red old fashioned red amaryllis bulbs. they have been dug and are separated with little or no dirt around them. what kind of soil or fertilizer is needed and will they bloom this next summer?
