It's a better choice to go now. Magic Kingdom is always the busiest. Make sure to get there before the park opens and head to one of the parks with the longer lines. Get fast passes for others beforehand.
I dont think there is anything practically free here at anytime. If you have a wait time which is between 30 to 45 mins, you are good. Ensure you use your 3 fast pass options before coming to the park and book some of the popular rides. Rest are fine. Start from the back of the park, have a heavy breakfast, go for lunch post 130 PM....the usual advise! It is enjoyable and bloody hot/humid anytime. One thing that worked for us is getting into the park around 3 PM and hanging around till the end of fireworks, it's far less cumbersome at least the weather part of it!
