Yes. The whole area has bears but if they see you or smell you first you won't see them. I would stay fairly close to highway 40 and go west from the entry. The sand in the roads behind the check station might show a few tracks that will help. Bears are omnivores so look for any food source, acorns, palmetto berries, grass I usually see more bear activity in the evening. Remember they close the gate to keep bears off the highway.
There are several however the new highway construction has them very wary. We arent seeing many lately
