The company is smart supermarket. But they use to go by s-mart. My husband has worked for them for 27 years now.

When Save Mart decided to open stores in Stockton we already had 2 locally owned stores named Save Mart (East Main St & Waterloo Rd). So the Save Mart chain had to open here under S-Mart Foods

Owned by the same company. This location is SAVE MART.

Save Mart Supermarkets is an American grocery store operator. It owns and operates stores under the names of Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky and FoodMaxx.

It's the same company

It basically the same company with an abbreviated name. This was done due to the fact that there was already two save mart's in the city of Stockton. So in order to avoid a infringement lawsuit they simply named the store s-mart. However you will find that this store in particular has a very nice staff working there especially the ladies in the bakery. I ordered my daughter a cake for her birthday and the lady working was extremely kind and helpful. Not only was she patient with us but she had a very pleasant attitude with me and I pleased with her and the cake was huge smash at the party. Thanks to the people who work in this particular location.

Save mart food for less owns it high prices dirty store rude people

Gina Runyon | Sep 8, 2018

It's both. I used to work there from 2001-2008. It seems that when they'd open a store with limited sign space they would shorten the true name to Smart Foods but if I'm not mistaken the original name was Smart Foods Supermarkets. They actually had been taken to court for it due to 2 local stores having the same name hence the hyphen between S and M.
