Is xd as good or better than imax?

Imax is all about screen. Its the biggest screen even compared with xd screen. Where as xd has relatively big screen and the best sound systems. Sound in xd is way better than imax sound. Only screen is a bit larger in imax.

IMAX is a 70mm film (ie. analog) format, whereas XD (Extreme Digital) is digital (JBL sound w/ digital audio, and Barco digital projector). Interestingly, XD was born from an IMAX/Cinemark lawsuit.

I recommend XD due to quality. IMAX is just a giant screen.

I prefer Imax but xd is a close second

XD is sound quality, IMAX is large screen - true IMAX is 360 degree view (truly amazing, but very few people record movies like this anymore, NASA and a few others that I know of).

XD seems like a normal theater to me, just more expensive and more seats

XD is awesome! Great all surrounding sound and awesome image.

XD is the right size screen and great sound experience. One issue with imax is if u don't get good seats then you may not enjoy it

Agree with Vineeth. XD gives me probably 80 percent of the screen size, better audio but is a win for me in convenience. Cinemark had locations by my house and work so it's an all around easier choice.

I prefer f2f for sound quality.
