you have to apply online to renew it, and then they will send you an email to make an appointment. You need to go to the Consulate.
You will need to apply online (https://www.ch-edoc-passantrag.admin.ch/#/antraggesuch?request_locale=en) and then set up an appointment at the SF consulate. Usually it will take about 3 weeks to receive the passport (it is directly shipped to you).
