It's more like novelty panning, at the end of the tour you pay $3 for one (small) bucket of mud. It's just to give you an idea how it was done in the past. You cannot walk about panning for gold.

From what I've been told you will have a 1:6 chance in finding just a small nugget of gold. You are not allowed to pan by yourself anywhere else. It's around $3 dollars and everything is supplied to you. However, it is weather/ season permitting, so I would call or check the website to find out more.
