There is the Prop 215 {senate bill 420) card, which is what anyone can get for around $40, which will get you into clubs that require a medical card, but there is a difference between state, and federal level Medical cards. The federal level card (which exempts you from the 20% excise tax) requires many documents and proof of ailments that would give the credentials necessary to obtain the federal MMJ card, unlike the $40 no documentation required cards you can get anywhere. The total tax is 30% (20% excise 10% state sales tax), so going through the large amounts of paperwork would only knock off the 20% excise tax. You are still subject to the sales tax.
