Is this airport near Camp Pendleton? We will be flying there in December for my sons graduation from boot camp. If not which one should we go to? First time flying, so I have no idea what to look for. Thanks

San Diego airport is about 35 mins from Camp Pendleton, but graduation is held at MCRD, it's beside San Diego airport. Do not go John Wayne airport. BTW... You can stay cheaply on base for graduation, not very comfy beds though. Check with the base for billeting. Congrats on his graduation. Semper Fi!

Consider flying to SNA (John Wayne/Orange County airport) instead. It's 49 miles to CP main gate.

From the airport to the main gate at Camp Pendleton is about 40 miles.
