Fishing but no boats
They do not have boats and only allow non motorized water vessels on the lake.
I do not believe they have boats on the lake. Well I always go for the hikes the park hosts. The mountains behind the lake lead to the "Cove" of La Quinta. 3 miles of hikes with modest climbs in between. Make sure to bring water if you do decide to take a hike towards the Cove.
No boats to rent or even to launch your boat. They don't allow any boats.
