First let me address the fact that we do not have Dollar general in our area. Secondly, we do have dollar stores which do carry food items however the selection is rather limited and much of it is off brand. There is no comparison in my mind between the quality, and breath of selection that Lucky's provides compared to any discount store in the area. I will say that the produce tends to be more expensive than the ethnic supermarkets in the area. I do find better prices on produce at many Indian, Mexican and Asian markets.
Its impossible to compare a major grocery store to a dollar store.
