Was just up their this last Sunday evening. Creek running BUT very shallow. Friday and Saturday nights the place is PACKED but come Sunday afternoon the place dropped down to a half dozen sites! Really nice Sunday evening. NO running water. Trash dumpsters over filled Sunday evening. Gnats where heavy in the afternoon but where gone at dusk. No air movement Friday and Saturday so the camp ground smoke hangs around. I'd strongly suggest booking for mid week, weekends get crowded and crazy.
was here at wheeler Gorge on Thursday july 16th 2020 there is water running through not A LOT but still very beautiful as the water comes down off the road into a small shallow 2ft" swim hole deeper spots further down stream still enough for kids. we did have a vistor come down the mountain not a mamma bear or cub he seemed to be a teenager size hung around a few hours I had my son and after a few hours left to sleep down the mountain my dad lives near by for him. We returned in the morning to get our stuff still the way we left it. It Was busy that night by the time I had packed up People were coming in but it did not seem close to as many the night before. My advice Go now! enjoy the stream while you can this place is awesome.
