It's usually not a good thing to just buy somebody a chick for a present and the reason is is because they're looking at as farm animals not pets. The store will actually make you by 6 they won't let you just have one for that reason in particular, not saying that chickens wouldn't make good pets because my neighbor has 8 chickens and the kids love them.
